Have you ever asked a child, “What do you want to be when you grow up”?
At some point, many will say a SUPERHERO!
Whether Superman, Wonder-woman, or an everyday community hero, children tend to imagine in a grand way.
In fact, the younger the child, the more likely they are to dream of being what others think are impossible. It is not until we get older that we begin to doubt our chances of the dream coming true. When faced with real life disappointments, we begin to process our God-given abilities and dreams based on a world that is cruel and unforgiving.
But what I love about a child is that their faith is boundless. They don’t focus on what they can’t do, but imagine what they can do! This is why so often we hear the notion of childlike faith. Children don’t spend time questioning every step of the way. They just go for it. Even if they stumble, they trust that there is more to this life and they move forward.
Recently, I had the privilege of sitting in a mall play area. The children jumped, leaped, and fell with joy.
Yes, they even fell with joy!
Most had such determination in their eyes that nothing could stop them. There was no fear of falling. Instead, they enjoyed the thrill of each adventure. They were full of hope, as they imagined what could happen next. All the while, they knew that if they were to truly be hurt their father or mother would be right there to pick them up.
What if we were the same with God?
What if we recognized that the realm of impossibilities are possible with Him?
What if we ran with what the Lord’s placed in our heart, knowing that even if we fall, he would pick us up?
What if when we thought of His plans for us we didn’t waver in the faith?
Instead, we had the approach of limitless possibilities.
For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37
Sometimes, we have to remind ourselves the truth about the God we serve! We serve the One who flung the stars in the sky with words. We serve the One who cannot lie. We serve the One who breathe life into man and has a plan of victory for each and every one of His creations! He loves to see His children taken care of and living out their purpose. So much so, He’s wiling to make things happen that otherwise would seem impossible. THIS is the God we serve! Amen!
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
May you be reunited with the dreams that the Lord placed in your heart. May you not be afraid of failing or dictated by life’s disappointments. Instead, may you have faith that you serve a God who can do it all, through it all, and for all who believe! In Jesus name, AMEN!
