Everyone wants to live a life where they are prosperous in all things. Financial blessings, the ability to travel, health, high socioeconomic status, a family that honors...
However, many of us have run into a DOOR. If you could imagine with me, a door with painted words that represent your obstacle.
Perhaps, your door is labeled with the words....
Fear of Failure
Toxic Friendships
Bitterness
Poverty
Lack of a Father
Each word representing a different area that keeps you bound from moving forward. Each word a label painted on by others or maybe a series of poor choices. If we are honest, we all have something on our door.
What's on your door?
Is your door full of fear? Is it full of emotional baggage like shame and rejection. I encourage you to pause and write down all the possible things that could be written on the door that keeps you from walking into success....
Now, THIS, is the moment that some get stuck at. In fact, many forget to focus on what's holding them back and start asking...Who painted this on MY wall? This is called the BLAME game! Many of us get stuck here! We literally, can't walk through the door because we are soooo focused on all the words painted on the door and WHO did it!
YES, you need to have a moment of awareness where you start pinpointing the root to what keeps you from walking through your door of success. BUT, you do not have to choose to stay looking at it, wondering when can I go in!
At a certain point, you have to pick up a fresh coat of paint, or a "magic eraser" and start wiping that door clean!
MOST will never get to this point because they are focused on the sadness associated with the door versus what's on the other side of the door!
What would YOUR life be if you could walk freely through the door? What's on the other side of your door?
Perhaps it's a billion dollar company, the family you have been wanting, the job you have been praying for! What's on the other side of your door is the passion that's been burning in your heart!
The first step to walking through your door is awareness. Otherwise, we would go through the door and take all the mess with us. More than likely, we would self-sabotage our success because we never dealt with "the writing on the wall".
We deal with these areas through talking it through, having people of accountability, and prayer. The great news is that are people everywhere who have experienced what you have been through. There are times when a great friend can stand beside you and encourage you to keep erasing those labels when you want to give up. A great friend can see past the labels on your door and support you as you walk through the door! This way of handling the labels rely on your strength and the strength of your support system. Which can work for a time.
However, I encourage you to connect with the friend that can truly remove the labels from the inside out! In fact, this friend takes great pleasure in giving your door a fresh new look!
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22)
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1
As you begin to pray, ask God to remove every label from you. If you can imagine a great exchange of those labels! Words transforming right before your eyes.
Brokenness into beauty
Shame into Freedom
Victim into victor
I encourage you to make the great exchange! Trade in that cracked, dusty, door full of shame for one that is a shining masterpiece. What do you have to lose in giving this perspective a try? I promise you, you will gain more than you will ever lose. I believe you will have a life of great victory, success, and freedom when you are able to walk through the door in confidence! It reminds of the show Let's Make A Deal, except there are no "bad doors" or "zonks" when the Lord is your guide! Please understand, you don't have to have it all together to walk through your door of success, but you will have more confidence when you are aware of the root of your previous hesitations.
If you don't know where to start, I encourage you to start here....
Jesus, I recognize that you hold the door to my success, Help me to remove the words of (fill in the blank) that have kept me from walking through the door. I ask that you switch these words for your words. Your words bring hope, life, acceptance, and peace. I believe that you can change my heart and I invite you into that place to do a fresh thing in me. Lord, I pray for a fresh coating on my wall. The places where my door was full of shame and brokenness, I ask that you replace. I believe in your ability to restore. I pray that I soar through the door of opportunity into all that I have been called to be. Amen.
