Recently, I purchased a butterfly garden for my children. During week one, the "butterflies" were not butterflies at all. They were rather gross caterpillars. However, over the weekend…SOMETHING HAPPENED. The butterflies who were once crawling at the bottom of the container felt the urge to climb to the top. As my children sat and watched for a few minutes, we wondered how long it would take before they would go into their cocoon. We watched and watched, but nothing happened. Eventually we all became bored and walked away. Not even five minutes later, we walked pass to see the caterpillars fully wrapped in their cocoon state. It was as if they knew our eyes were watching! The caterpillars were waiting for the moment when they could be alone. This was a great example of why our time alone with God is so important.
Sometimes, we have to separate ourselves from our busy life, the chatter of friends, the buzz of the television, and just take a moment with God.
Like the caterpillar, we need to unplug from everything and get alone!
We have to be willing have intentional moments with God so that we can transition into our next step.
Uninterrupted moments with the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, your Creator, Our Father are life-changing!
The Bible speaks of the still small voice that God speaks to us in (1 Kings 19:12). I don’t know about you, but it is hard to hear and respond to a still small voice if you are surrounded by the “noise” of life.
Can He speak to you in the midst of chaos, onlookers, frustration?
Sure, He could! He is God! BUT God desires us to get alone with Him as well. Jesus models this for us!
Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
It’s time to schedule some quiet time with God! Maybe it’s during a walk around your neighborhood, waking up a few minutes early in the morning, or dedicating yourself to worship on the way to work. It may be different for us all.
When we get alone with God, things change! We change.
In our quiet intimate moments, God can give us clarity, direction and vision for the next step!
Be intentional about spending time with God! This will be a key in your victorious life!
Just like that caterpillar who just needed a moment alone to make a transition; our alone time with God can be the key to our life change!
